Lifting and Extracting

A simple cut in the timeline means when you just cut out a section or clip of a video. When you cut, the other clips in the timeline will stay right where they are. A ripple edit is when you want to delete something and you want all the clips to replace where you just did your cut. You do this by clicking on the right side of the mouse and . When you ripple delete, the other clips to the right of the deleted clip shift in the spot where the ripple deleted clip was preformed. Lifting and extracting are two ways to cut a clip at one time. To do this, you go on premire pro and set you in & out points where ever you want to cut the video. Then you either click the extract or lift button on the program panel.Lifting is like leaving a gap in the middle and not moving the other videos from the right to the left, while extracting is like cuting the clip out and moving the clips on the right into the gap , in terms of what happens to the other clips in the timeline. This is an example of an extract edit. I decided to extract the two clips where I did because it cuts out the boring parts in the video.
